Congratulations to all our students, alumni, faculty, and staff this month on their success. The items below highlight the breadth of achievement and expertise that can be found at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) in recent months.
The George Washington University (GW) School of Medicine and Health Sciences has named Paige McDonald, EdD ’12, assistant professor of clinical research and leadership, to serve in a new role as vice chair of the Department of Clinical Research and Leadership (CRL). 
Trudy Mallinson, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, FACRM, and Samar A. Nasser, PhD, MPH, PA-C, have been named co-program directors of the PhD in Translational Health Sciences Program in the Department of Clinical Research and Leadership.
The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences announced the new emeriti faculty inductees as well as the promotions and tenure selections, effective July 1, 2020.
Maranda Ward, EdD, MPH, was selected as a SMHS Emerging Scholars Fellow for 2020-21. The scholarly focus for her project is health equity and anti-racism.
Elmer E. Huerta, MD, MPH, will serve as the director of the Cancer Preventorium at the GW Cancer Center and as professor of medicine at the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Monica Lypson, MD, professor of medicine at the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences, was recently elected to the council of the Society of General Internal Medicine.
Terry Kind, MD, MPH, associate dean of clinical education and professor of pediatrics at SMHS, was recently selected as a member of the Inaugural Cohort of the National Academy of Distinguished Educators in Pediatrics.
Anthony R. Artino Jr., PhD, recently joined SMHS as professor in the Department of Health, Human Function and Rehabilitation Sciences.
Sabrina Figueiredo, PhD, MSc, joined SMHS as co-director of the Health Care Quality (HCQ) Program. Figueiredo comes to GW from McGill University in Montreal, where she served as assistant director of the physical therapy program.
