Upward Bound

The GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences hosted a multitude of summer programs for high school and undergraduate students interested in pursuing careers in medicine, the health professionsm or research.

Genesis Tackie joined the GW SMHS Upward Bound program to enhance his education and improve in school. He didn’t know he would find a new community, a group of like-minded friends “who want to better themselves.”

SMHS hosts the year-long program, Upward Bound, which provides access and exposure for local high school students who will be the first-generation of college students in their families.

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation has awarded a $25,000 grant to the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences to support Upward Bound and the Health Education Leadership Program at the Rodham Institute. 

The Upward Bound Program in GW’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) is rolling into 2013 with high energy and purpose.
