SMHS Match Day Ceremony for Fourth-Year Students

WASHINGTON – Medical students at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences will take part in a Match Day ceremony on March 17.

During the ceremony, fourth-year students will gather with the school’s faculty and administration to simultaneously open letters at noon from the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), a private, not-for-profit corporation established to provide a uniform date of appointment to positions in graduate medical education (GME) in the United States. The letters will reveal where they will spend the next three to five years of their medical education, fulfilling their residency requirements. Following the ceremony, a luncheon will be provided to students, families, and friends who participated in the festivities.
