As 2018 came to a close, The Integrator, an integrative health blog, released its Top 10 for Policy and Action in Integrative Health and Medicine list, which featured a highlight on Mikhail Kogan, MD.

Kogan, who serves as medical director of the George Washington University (GW) Center for Integrative Medicine and professor of medicine at the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences, had a busy year, according to John Weeks the blog’s chief writer.

Kogan released his edited volume of Integrative Geriatrics Medicine and co-led the development of the health justice-oriented conference, Integrative Medicine for the Underserved, which was held on GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus. Kogan’s not-for-profit organization, AIM Health Institute, which is dedicated to providing group integrative care to the underserved, formed a relationship with Bread for the City clinics under a Health Resources and Services Administration grant aimed at offering massage therapy and acupuncture in patient care. He also guest co-edited a special issue of the journal Complementary Therapies in Medicine on the use of medical marijuana.

“I’m happy to have been recognized by The Integrator,” said Kogan, “It’s especially rewarding to be named along with the other members of the top 10 list for 2018.”

In addition to research and teaching, his commitment to integrating different healing modalities with modern day Western medicine has led him to become a founding board member of the American Board of Integrative Medicine. Kogan also serves as the director of the Integrative Geriatrics Fellowship at GW Hospital, as co-director of the Integrative Medicine Track Program at SMHS, and as a part-time faculty member with the GW Institute for Spirituality and Health and the GW Center for Aging, Health, and Humanities.
