Congratulations to Ankoor Shah, MD, MBA, MPH, assistant professor of pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), on being recognized among the 40 Under 40 Leaders in Minority Health by the National Minority Quality Forum (NMQF) for 2019.

NMQF is an organization that assists in delivering appropriate health care to minority communities. The individuals who are recognized for 40 Under 40 represent the next generation of thought leaders working to eliminate health disparities in their communities.

In addition to his SMHS faculty position, Shah serves as the medical director for the IMPACT D.C. Asthma Clinic at Children’s National Health System. The clinic is an award-winning pediatric asthma program dedicated to improving asthma care and outcomes for children through clinical care, education, research, and advocacy. He is also an attending general pediatrician at Children’s Health Center at THEARC in Prince Georges County, Maryland.

“This recognition enables us to put a spotlight on the childhood asthma disparity in Washington, D.C.,” Shah said. “More so, it reflects that complex problems pressing our most underserved communities can be solved through cross-sector collaboration, upstream thinking, and innovative clinical approaches.”

Shah and his fellow 2019 40 Under 40 Leaders in Minority Health awardees will be recognized at the 2019 NMQF Leadership Summit on Health Disparities, held April 8–9 in Washington, D.C. For more information, please see the full Press Releases.
