The George Washington University (GW) School of Medicine and Health Science’s (SMHS) Master of Science in Health Sciences (MSHS) in Health Care Quality Program is one of the first two quality and safety programs in North America to receive accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).

“We are thrilled to be one of the leaders in health care quality,” said Sabrina Figueiredo, PhD, MSc, program director for health care quality and assistant professor of clinical research and leadership at GW SMHS. “This accreditation is the culmination of hard work and dedication, and it further enhances the strong reputation of the SMHS Health Care Quality Program. Our graduates are leaders in health care quality, and we will continue to train specialists to maintain the highest standards in every aspect of the health care delivery system.”

CAHME, which has been accrediting health care management education since 1968, sets the quality criteria for programs as a way to serve the public interest. This accreditation, according to CAHME, “is the benchmark for students and employers alike that ensure that students are well prepared to lead in health care management.” Accreditation is based on “measurable, competency-based criteria for excellence,” CAHME adds.

The GW SMHS online Health Care Quality Program has been a top 10 CAHME-ranked quality and safety program since 2018.
