Jesse M. Pines, M.D., to Speak at Becker’s Hospital Review 8th Annual Meeting

Jesse M. Pines, M.D., director of the Center for Healthcare Innovation and Policy Research and professor of emergency medicine and health policy and management at the George Washington University (GW) School of Medicine and Health Sciences, will be a featured speaker during the Becker’s Hospital Review 8th Annual Meeting being held April 17-20 at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago.

Pines, along with Randy Pilgrim, M.D., enterprise chief medical officer at Schumacher Clinical Partners, will speak about the future of emergency department care and innovative approaches to improve acute unscheduled care, during the presentation, “Avoid the ER? Not on Your Life! Converting the Emergency Department into a Strategic Asset for Your Hospital.” Pines and Pilgrim will discuss the use of decision-making and management in the emergency department to improve outcomes in the hospital, and the community as a whole. The presentation is set for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, as part of Track D: Patient Safety and Quality Issues.

The meeting brings together hospital business leaders and strategists from across the country to discuss opportunities for hospital improvements and their organizations’ bottom line.

Pines is a board-certified emergency physician with extensive experience in quality improvement, patient safety, operations research, and clinical epidemiology. He has contributed to a number of publications, including TIME magazine, Slate, Foreign Policy Magazine, and the Wall Street Journal. Pines has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed publications and co-authored four books.
