While fellow members of the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences MD program Class of 2026 sit anxiously next spring awaiting the most important news in their nascent medical careers, results of the National Residency Match Program, four classmates will be able to rest easy having already learned where they will pursue specialty training.

Charles Cobbs, Caroline Cox, Emile Kuyl, and John Wainwright were all part of this year’s Military Match, receiving their residency placements through the Joint Service Graduate Medical Education Selection Board on Dec. 10.

Kuyl and Cobbs will head across town to train at Walter Reed National Military Center. Cobbs will pursue general surgery, while Kuyl will serve an orthopedic surgery residency. Across the country, classmates Cox and Wainwright will continue their studies at San Diego Naval Base. Cox will serve an otolaryngology residency, and Wainwright will pursue anesthesiology.
