Congratulations to all involved in the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences Community Medi-Corps Program – Immersive Learning Center, including project principal investigator Teri Capshaw, MBA, adjunct instructor of clinical research and leadership, and co-investigator Linda Zanin, EdD ’96, MA ’92, adjunct assistant professor of biomedical laboratory sciences, for winning a silver E-Learning Award in the Blended Learning Experience category from the International E-Learning Association (IELA).

The awards recognize the best uses of technology to improve learning and job performance within companies or through individual professional development. The 2022 award winners were announced at the International Conference on Interactive Collaborative Learning awards ceremony in Vienna, Austria, Sept. 30, 2022. The IELA is dedicated to advancing the knowledge and practice of e-learning in schools and universities, and in the workplace.

The Medi-Corps program is made possible by a $700,000 grant from GO (Growth and Opportunity) Virginia. Medi-Corps augments curricula and enhances health and life sciences education at the Governor’s Health Sciences Academy in the Alexandria City Public Schools and at academies in the Arlington Public Schools, Fairfax County Public Schools, and Loudoun County Public Schools. The centerpiece of Medi-Corps is a mobile Immersive Learning Center (ILC) – a 45-foot-long classroom and lab on wheels that will provide students with leading-edge technology, simulation, and immersive virtual and augmented learning experiences.
