GW Earns Schools of Distinction Award for Online Education from BestColleges.com

A leading provider of higher education research, BestColleges.com, this month awarded the George Washington University (GW) with a Schools of Distinction Award for Online Education Excellence.

This honor recognizes colleges and universities who have dedicated themselves to developing quality online programs, according to BestColleges.com. GW earned the highest honor with recognition as a Gold School, which was awarded to only 14 colleges and universities in the United States. Many of GW’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences programs were featured in the award listing.

To qualify as a School of Distinction, institutions must be a two- or four-year, accredited, nonprofit college or university and offer an online program ranked by Best Colleges. Points for each school were calculated based on the number of times they appeared in the top three positions in Best Colleges’ rankings, weighted against the total number of rankings in which they appeared.

Of the 2,000 eligible universities offering online degree programs, only 100 earned a Schools of Distinction honor. Gold Schools represent the 98th percentile of all online colleges ranked on the site and consistently finish in the top three places on their respective rankings.

"These schools demonstrate a high-level of investment in online education and a commitment to excellence in online learning,” according to a BestColleges.com release.

The GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences was recognized for numerous, highly ranked online programs in the health sciences including its Master’s in Clinical Research Administration, Master’s in Health Care Quality, and Bachelor’s in Health Sciences in Clinical Operations and Healthcare Management, among others.
