GW faculty members from the School of Medicine and Health Sciences and clinicians at the Medical Faculty Associates, including Dr. Cynthia Tracy and Dr. Marco Mercador, traveled to Honduras during fall 2011 to provide medical care to people living in a medically underserved village. While there, they came across a patient who is a mother of three children that needed more extensive treatment than could be offered on the ground in Honduras. The GW MFA coordinated with the Embassy of Honduras, and brought this patient to GW Hospital for heart surgery, saving her life.
