The Annual Treadwell lecture honors the memory of beloved GW Professor Dr. Carleton Treadwell who was an international leader in lipid metabolism and served as the Chair of Biochemistry from 1959 to 1979 at GWU. Dr. Treadwell's research focused on uncovering mechanisms of cholesterol absorption. The lectureship was established in 1991. This year's Treadwell Visiting Professor, Dr. Pam Taub is an international leader in cardiovascular prevention and an experienced clinical trialist who directs several international clinical trials focused on novel cardiovascular therapies. She is a member of the ACC Prevention Leadership Council and AHA Council on Women in Cardiology.
