Climate Indicators translate observed, empirical data into clear, accessible signals of how climate change is impacting people and natural systems. In the absence of federal action on climate change, GW’s Climate and Health Institute is relaunching and expanding former federal datasets through the Climate Indicators initiative, building durable, rigorous, and accessible resources for communities and decision makers leading climate action nationwide.
These efforts are led by Rona Birnbaum, who joins GW after a 30+ year career at the Environmental Protection Agency. At EPA, Rona led EPA’s Climate Science and Impacts Branch, where she was a principle architect of the 2009 GHG Endangerment Finding. In this seminar, Rona will share progress on Climate Indicators and discuss her past and current efforts as a leader at the interface of climate science and policy.
