Student should contact course director prior to day one for specific information about where/when to report on day one (will typically be either the Pediatric Nephrology Fellows Continuity Clinic at Children’s National, 3rd floor main hospital or will be on the Heart and Kidney unit on the third floor of East building of Children’s National Hospital). |

Description |
Students will be involved in ambulatory, inpatient and consultative pediatric nephrology. The breadth of patient exposure ranges from those with common primary care problems to those who have complex nephrological disorders, including acute and chronic renal failure on dialysis. Attendance at regularly scheduled conferences is expected. No weekends or call. The inpatient portion of the elective provides a close working relationship with pediatric residents during their required inpatient ward month. The outpatient portion does not provide regular exposure to residents. Although residents do not typically participate in this elective, students will have an opportunity to interact with them during resident conferences. Outpatient sites are in the Maryland, Virginia and DC area. Personal transportation is required. Course Learning Objectives: By the end of this course, the student should be able to:
