Contact the Friday prior to the start of the rotation. All rotations will start on Monday and unless otherwise noted, students are expected to meet with the ENT team for AM rounds.

Evaluation

Uniform Clinical Evaluation; seminar performance

Description

Students will participate in the work-up and care of outpatients and inpatients. Students will participate in surgery and ER consultations. Night call and weekend call are voluntary but are mandatory for students entering otolaryngology as a career. Faculty includes Drs. Steven Bielamowicz, Tom Troost, Arjun Joshi, Ashkan Monfared, Ameet Singh, Cody Smith and Punam Thakkar.

Course Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:

  1. Explain the presentation of otolaryngologic conditions and the differential diagnosis of the presentation.
  2. Practice the evaluation, work-up, and care of otolaryngologic conditions in an outpatient and inpatient setting.
  3. Practice surgery and ER consultations for otolaryngologic conditions.
  4. Perform basic surgical and procedural skills for conditions of the head, neck, throat, nose, and ear.

  1. Review the ENT exam video series
  2. Review the Primary Care Otolaryngology E-Book (3rd edition)
