Uniform Clinical Evaluation

Description

This is a clinical rotation to help students acquire knowledge and practical skills in the management of cardiac patients. It is a hospital rotation and students are supervised by a group of residents, fellows, and cardiology attendings during the four weeks of the rotation. Students rotate in three separate areas: two weeks on Heart Team (inpatient cardiology), one week on non-invasive section (echo, stress test and consults), and one week on invasive section (cath lab and EP lab).

Course Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:

  1. Interpret an EKG.
  2. Practice writing admission history and physical exams.
  3. Perform cardiovascular physical examinations under supervision.
  4. Evaluate and manage patients with cardiac conditions including acute chest pain, acute and chronic heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, and valve disease.
  5. Demonstrate ability to present cardiac patients to cardiology attendings.
