University Operating Status Update for Jan. 26:
Due to winter weather, all university campuses and centers are physically closed on Monday, January 26. Please see campus advisories for more information.
Dear Students,
Please note: Even though no in-person classes will take place on Monday, faculty who teach in-person classes have been encouraged to use technology to continue Monday classes online, if possible, and notify students directly of such arrangements as soon as possible.
In addition, please see the instructions below:
MD Students
All First- and Second-Year students should look for an email from their Block/Course Directors with instructions for educational activities on Sunday and Monday.
All Third- and Fourth-Year medical students on clinical rotations should report to clinical sites if the site is open and only if the student feels it is safe to do so. Students unable to report to their clinical sites must notify their supervising physician (faculty member) as well as the clerkship director/clinical coordinator. Your clerkship leadership will notify you if there are any changes. Contact info and in the Course Catalog.
PA Students
PA students in the didactic year should take direction from the Director of Didactic Education for instructions for Sunday and Monday.
PA students on clinical rotations should report to clinical sites if it is safe to do so. Students unable to report to their clinical sites must notify their preceptor as well as the clerkship director.
PT and OT Students
Please check email communication from your respective course instructors regarding class plans (e.g. synchronous/asynchronous etc.).
Students with clinical or capstone responsibilities in geographic areas experiencing adverse weather should check with their clinical site for further instruction.
Post-Bacc Pre-Medicine Students
Please check email communication from your respective course instructors regarding how to join class virtually or any lab rescheduling.
Biomedical Laboratory Science (BLS) Students
BLS students on clinical rotations in areas outside of those affected by the recent storm should report to clinical sites as usual.
BLS students on clinical rotations in the local area (DMV) or any other area impacted by the recent storm should follow the inclement weather policy of their clinical site. Students unable to report to their clinical sites must notify their designated GW clinical coordinator and the clinical preceptor.
Himmelfarb Library
Himmelfarb Library's building will be closed on Sunday, Jan. 25 and Monday, Jan. 26, 2026. Online access will remain available 24/7 via the library’s website: https://himmelfarb.gwu.edu.
If any students with clinical responsibilities feel that the conditions are unsafe and are not able to make it in, please let your resident, attending physician, preceptor or clinical instructor know, in addition to your course director.
