U.S. Poverty-Linked Infections Prevalent

The threat of dengue fever and the prevalence of parasitic infections are realities for tens of thousands of people in the United States. Peter Hotez, M.D., Ph.D., Distinguished Research Professor and Chair of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Tropical Medicine in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, says these infections threaten the poorest people living in the Gulf Coast states and in Washington, D.C.
