Health Advocates Say Pneumonia Preventable

Pneumonia is the single leading killer of young children in the world, more than HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis. Peter Hotez, M.D., Ph.D., Distinguished Research Professor, Walter G. Ross Professor and Chair, Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Tropical Medicine in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, says vaccines and antibiotics could dramatically reduce the number of child deaths from pneumonia.
