Gout, a Form of Arthritis, is no Longer Limited to the Well-to-do

Gout has roughly tripled since the late 1970s, with about 8 million Americans now suffering from the disease. Patience White, M.D., professor of Medicine in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, says that while pitching new drugs for gout, pharmaceutical companies have increased people's awareness of the disease and its symptoms.
