WASHINGTON—Dennis Narango has been named associate dean of the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) and associate vice president of GW Medicine development and alumni relations. Mr. Narango will join GW on Nov. 21, 2011.
“It is a tribute to the George Washington University to attract someone of Mr. Narango’s caliber,” said Michael Morsberger, GW vice president of development. “I look forward to engaging Mr. Narango’s leadership and working with him to strengthen philanthropic support of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.”
Mr. Narango will head the development and alumni affairs team in support of the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences, including the physician’s assistant and physical therapy programs; the university’s biomedical research and clinical programs housed within the GW Medical Faculty Associates; and GW Medicine, the university hospital. In addition, he will lead and direct all aspects of fundraising and capital development for GW Medicine.

Mr. Narango most recently served as the associate dean for development and chief development officer at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He previously held positions at University of Maryland University College as acting vice president for institutional advancement, assistant vice president for institutional advancement and director of development. Mr. Narango also served as director of alumni and development at Loyola Blakefield High School in Towson, Md.
Mr. Narango holds a bachelor’s of arts degree in English and a master of arts in pastoral counseling from Loyola University. He currently serves as a board member of the Maryland Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and is a former board member of the Chesapeake Planned Giving Council. Mr. Narango also is a member of the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Group on Institutional Advancement and Certified Fund Raising Executive International.
