Research Interests

Dr. McDonald is an expert in the application of technology to enhance online adult learning. Her research focuses on  innovations in learning design and delivery which develop the higher order thinking skills today’s graduates require to adapt and thrive in increasingly complex work environments, particularly in healthcare professions. She is skilled in the application of qualitative and mixed methods to understanding adult online learning. She has experience conducting research in adult learning, blended learning, online learning, meta-cognition, and reflective practice. She serves as the Managing Director for the GW Health Research and Education Collaboratory.
