The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences presents the 2023 Jerry M. Wiener, MD, Endowed Lecture for Psychiatric Education featuring Sierra Carter, PhD, assistant professor of psychology at Georgia State University, delivering her address titled, “Black People Deserve to Grow Old: Racial Trauma, Accelerated Aging, and the Promotion of Health Equity-Focused Research.”
Carter’s research focuses on racial health disparities and investigates how psychosocial and contextual stressors can affect both mental and physical health outcomes for underrepresented populations.
