Event Description:
Pulmonary hypertension has long been under-diagnosed and under-appreciated for its high degree of morbidity and mortality. The story of pulmonary hypertension spans the spectrum from basic science to translational research to large-scale clinical trials, with more innovation on the horizon in studying and treating this complex disease.
Renowned experts in pulmonary hypertension, Dr. Karen Fagan and Dr. Mardi Gomberg-Maitland, address the history of basic science and genetic discovery, discuss changes in clinical care strategies based on clinical trials, and explore future trial designs, artificial intelligence, and patient perspectives. Their interdisciplinary talk demonstrates GW's expertise from bench to bedside as an opportunity to collaborate and innovate, moving this field forward and further enhancing our excellence in patient care and improving outcomes.

About the Bicentennial Faculty Lecture Series (FLS)
In the summer of 2024, the GW SMHS issued a call for proposals to faculty across the academic medical enterprise for the inaugural Bicentennial Faculty Lecture Series.
The goal is for our faculty to “fuel the advancement of knowledge in their area of interest and to demonstrate what makes GW unique and distinct.” The FLS was built to showcase faculty ideas, cultivate a sense of community, and foster meaningful connections across the academic medical enterprise.
