Advocacy is a powerful tool for medical faculty to influence policies, improve healthcare systems, and advance the well-being of patients and communities. However, faculty members may be unsure where to begin or how to effectively use their expertise to impact change. This workshop is designed for beginners who want to build their advocacy skills and gain the confidence to engage in impactful advocacy efforts.
Participants will explore advocacy basics, including how to identify personal key issues, craft persuasive messages, and spread their messages. The session will provide practical tools and strategies to help faculty advocate for their research, patients, communities and institutional or policy changes at various levels. This workshop is ideal for medical faculty who are new to advocacy and eager to make a difference in their field. No prior experience in legislative writing or policy engagement is required.
