Students enrolled in PED 405 will rotate through the Emergency Department at Children’s National Hospital (CNH). CNH’s Emergency Department is an urban, academic emergency facility and a Pediatric Level I Trauma Center, providing care to more than 90,000 patients each year. Students will be joining a staff of board-certified pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) attendings, clinical associates (general pediatricians), PEM fellows, residents, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, trauma technologists, technicians, and support personnel who are committed to excellence in education and patient care. Students should be prepared for a demanding, rich and rewarding clinical and didactic experience. The purpose of the Pediatrics Emergency Medicine Clerkship is to introduce students to the care of the acutely ill and injured patient in an emergency setting. During the course of this rotation the student will supervised by attendings, fellows, and clinical associates.
