Description

This is a 2 or 4 week elective with a project focusing on a selected topic of Emergency Medicine. Project can involve clinical or bench research but must be approved and directly monitored by a GW Emergency Medicine faculty member. Students should contact course directors at least 12 weeks before their elective is scheduled to begin research preparation. 

Course Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:

  1. Critically evaluate scientific literature, identifying gaps in knowledge and exploring evidence-based approaches in a chosen field.
  2. Synthesize information gleaned through various research tools and methodologies, including systematic reviews and observational studies, tailored to the specific type of study the student will be engaged in.
  3. Create an abstract for a national conference.
  4. Demonstrate ability to present research through written reports, publications, or oral presentations, aiming for clear, professional, and impactful communication of scientific insights.
