Our annual fall convocation event invites current students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the PT program to celebrate the profession! The evening begins with a keynote speaker who has made significant contributions to the PT community sharing their professional and personal journey, inspiring others. New students receive a white coat adorned by their second year peer and recite the Hippocratic Oath, signifying the beginning of their journey as a health care professional. Excellence Award recipients are also announced; second and third year students who excel in the areas of academic excellence, leadership, research, and service.
Each year, GW SMHS students unwind as they put on a live fundraising show called "Follies." This show features the talented acting, dancing and singing skills of the Doctor of Medicine, Physician Assistant, and Physical Therapy students as they satirize their program while raising money for a good cause. Last year, proceeds benefited the Little Workers of the Sacred Heart Pro Bono Physical Therapy Clinic, where many of our own PT students volunteer each weekend. Another notable aspect of this show is the Golden Apple Award, presented to an outstanding professor that has gone above and beyond to facilitate learning inside and outside of the classroom.
