Polling

The School of Medicine and Health Sciences uses PollEverywhere as its audience response/polling tool. This tool is available to all members of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Some of the key features of this polling system are:

  • Multiple choice, clickable image, ranking, and free response question types.
  • Automatic archiving of all poll results.
  • Innovative reports and Gradebook views of student responses.
  • The ability to respond to polls via an iPad app, website, or SMS Text messaging.

All of the podium computers across SMHS classrooms have the new PollEv Presenter app installed as a PowerPoint add-in.

Getting Started

  • Accounts
  • The School of Medicine has a site license for all instructors teaching in the Undergraduate Medical Curriculum. In order to get an account through this site license, you must take the following steps:
    • Request a PollEverywhere account from Tracy Blanchard (tlthompson@gwu.edu) or Laura Abate (leabate@gwu.edu)
    • When you receive the emailed invitation, click on the link and register for a PollEverywhere account.
  • If you plan to use PollEverywhere with Powerpoint:
    • Download and install the PollEv Presenter Add-In for PowerPoint on your computer:
      • Available via the Software Center on SMHS computers
      • Available from the PollEverywhere website (for personal computers)
      • Note: Those using non-SMHS computers with security settings that prevent installing software (eg MFA, CNMC, VA) will  likely not be able to install the Add-In.  You can still create polls and insert them into PowerPoint presentations.  You will not be able to present polls from PowerPoint or insert polls directly from PowerPoint without the Add-In.
  • Mobile Apps
    • The PollEverywhere app can be used to respond to polls, and to present polls in situations where you do not have PowerPoint or access to a screen.
    • The app can be found in the AppStore and Google Play Store
