Disruptive Innovations in Acute and Emergency Care: Aligning Payment and Delivery Reform
As the provisions of the Affordable Care Act of 2010 and MACRA of 2015 are implemented, transformation has become a common theme in healthsystems and communities. New, disruptive innovations being developed and tested in acute and emergency care across the United States. Speakers at the 2016 Urgent Matters Meeting (Oct. 15, 2016) at ACEP16 highlighted several of these innovations: payment and quality measurement in emergency care, ED to home transitions in care, freestanding EDs, the opioid epidemic, ED critical care units, and telemedicine.
