Lauren Crowder was recently accepted into two AABB committees for the 2019-2020 year, beginning October 1, 2019. The first is the Transfusion Transmitted Diseases Committee, which is tasked with providing consultation, as needed, on all facets of transfusion and cellular therapy related diseases and related laboratory tests. This committee prepares reports, recommendations, and statements to AABB Board and staff in preparation for Blood Products Advisory Committee meetings for the FDA and the Advisory Committee on Blood Safety and Availability for the Assistant Secretary of Health.
The second committee appointment is with the AABB Donor Hemovigilance Working Group. This group is designed to promote hemovigilance activities (nationally and internationally), promote the adoption of harmonized donor adverse reaction definitions and reaction severity grading tools, promote donor safety initiatives, and promote donor adverse reaction mitigation and intervention strategies.
