For this spring, we will be hosting an event entitled “Planting Your Garden”. This event will be held at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center, and will teach attendees how to grow their own produce. This will involve a potential funder, the Bainum Foundation, who will donate seeds, and other groups in the food space in Washington, D.C., such as DC Greens. Seeds are covered under SNAP benefits, and studies have shown that people who grow their own produce often gain a source of discretionary income, as well as eating a more healthful diet.
This event will also serve as an opportunity for our PATH-C group to hold a health career exposure fair and train community members in Hands-Only CPR for 2018 for 2018 initiative.
