SYEP with Rodham

Interns from Friendship Collegiate Academy

The Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP) is a locally funded initiative sponsored by the Department of Employment Services (DOES) that provides District youth ages 14 to 24 with enriching and constructive summer work experiences through subsidized placements in the private and government sectors.

Here at Rodham Institute we had the pleasure of working with Janelle (Senior) , Anesia (Senior) , Valentino (Junior)  and Steven (Junior). All four of these students are from Friendship Collegiate Academy Public Charter School. Friendship Collegiate is a college preparatory high school serving students in 9th - 12th grade in SouthEast DC. The students experienced 6 weeks of shadowing physcians during clinic, learning about emergency medicine, explore GWU's physical therapy and sports medicine department, creating resumes, learning about public speaking, interviewing skills, and preparing for college through essay prep, application prep and ACT/SAT Prep.

We wish them well for the coming school year and look forward to the great things they will do!
