Welcome to George Washington University Orthopaedics – a premier program in the nation’s capital! GW Orthopaedics has a proud history and offers a well-rounded experience with a premium on resident education. Almost one in four of our residents have chosen to pursue academic medicine. Though the core education prepares residents for general orthopaedic practice, a majority elect for advanced training in the form of a fellowship in the specialty of their choosing.
The faculty at GW have been training orthopaedic residents for decades and serve as role models and life-long mentors. Our mission is to foster the development of orthopaedic residents into orthopaedic physicians who are clinically competent, academically minded, ethically sound, and compassionate caregivers. Residents become part of an extensive and nationally respected GW alumnus family.
The program has breadth and depth in all specialties with no need to go out of town as part of your training. In addition to the George Washington University Hospital, residents rotate through community-based hospitals and an active Children’s National Medical Center Hospital that are part of the program.
Washington, D.C. has frequently been named as one of the most livable cities in the US. It’s a vibrant, young city, with outstanding museums, cultural opportunities and restaurants, in the midst of several charming neighborhoods. We’re happy that you’re looking into our program, and invite you to visit us sometime.
