Dr. Jeffrey Berger Co-Authors “Anesthesiology Core Review Part One: BASIC Exam”
Congratulations to Jeffrey Berger, M.D., M.B.A., associate professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine and interim associate dean for graduate medical education at the George Washington University (GW) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), on the release of “Anesthesiology Core Review Part One: BASIC Exam,” a 563-page review book published by McGraw-Hill for the new Anesthesiology Board Certification Examination, Part I. Berger co-authored the book along with 52 faculty, resident, and medical student contributors from the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care.
Since its release in May, the book has consistently ranked in the top 50 for test prep and review books, and has been in the top five sellers for anesthesiology texts.
The year 2014 marks the first year the board examination review for anesthesiology residents is split into two sections — the first of which residents are required to pass in order to finish their training. The review book is designed to aid anesthesiology residents in studying for Part 1 of the board certification examination.
“Anesthesiology Core Review Part One: BASIC Exam” is divided into the following four sections:
- Basic Science
- Clinical Sciences
- Organ-Based Sciences
- Special Issues in Anesthesiology (covering important topics such as professionalism and licensure, ethics, and patient safety)
