Admissions Questions

Do I need to submit a resume, letters of recommendation, or statement of purpose?

You are not required to submit a resume, letters of recommendation, or a statement of purpose.

How long will it take before I get admitted?

First, you must submit your application. Once your application is submitted, it usually takes one week to review and finalize the admissions decision. While each semester has a stated admissions deadline, the admissions staff begins reviewing applications 4-6 weeks in advance of the stated deadline and will issue decisions as they become available.


Tuition, Fees, and Financial Aid

How much is tuition?

If you decide to take the classes at GW, the rate is $250 per credit ($750 a class).

What additional fees are there?

In addition to tuition, there is a $35 registration fee each semester and each online MLS course includes a $30 proctoring fee for use of the remote proctoring service RP NOW.

Is this program financial aid eligible?

Most of our programs are financial aid eligible. Please refer to our Tuition and Financial Aid website for details.

Are books included in the tuition and fees?

No, textbook costs are not included. Details on required texts are made available in the Schedule of Classes, on the GW Bookstore’s website, and in the course syllabi.

How do I obtain cost verification and course schedule documentation for military tuition assistance (TA) requests?

GoArmyEd requires students to submit system-generated eBill and course schedule for TA requests. Students can access their eBill and course schedule in GWeb.

Steps to access your eBill: Log into GWeb; select Student Records and Registration; select Student Accounts Menu; select Student Account eBill; under Statements, select Latest Bill, which will pull up your most recent eStatement.

What courses can I register for at GW?

You need to register for the courses in the areas corresponding to the subjects in which you have not yet completed. Remember to refer to your acceptance letter to know exactly which courses you have remaining: Always choose a DE (DE, DE1, DE2 etc) SECTION and either a DA, DA1, DB, or DB1 section for 8-week courses. Remember that students in the HSLT program are NOT permitted to register for courses outside of the Health Sciences Programs.

How do I maintain active enrollment if completing credits outside of GW?

If you would like to complete the credits outside of GW, you are required to send your advisor the subject, course number, title of course, number of credit hours the course is worth as well as a link to the course catalog to review and approve. You will also need to enroll in Continuous Enrollment (CE) for the fall and spring semesters in order to remain in active status. During the summer, CE is not a requirement, unless you are applying for graduation. If you do not enroll in CE, you will become inactive and need to re-apply. There is a $35 registration fee; however, you will not be completing any coursework but rather are just registering in order to remain active status.

What is the recommended course load for each semester?

We recommend that students in our undergraduate programs budget 4 hours per credit per week for studying. A part-time pace, for undergraduate financial aid purposes, is designated as 6-11 credits per term; therefore, students can expect to spend 24-44 hours per week on coursework.

What is the minimum GPA required to maintain good academic standing?

The overall grade point average (GPA) for the AS in HSLT degree program is a 2.5.

When will I receive my diploma?

Delivery of diploma may take an additional 6-8 weeks following degree conferral.
