Interns and residents receive four weeks of vacation (including either a Christmas or New Years week).
Medical, disability, and professional liability insurance is provided by the University.
Free parking is available for houseofficers at all sites. At GW, the garage is located right in downtown DC, about a block from the clinic and the hospital. Residents who choose to take Metro can have fares deducted directly from their paycheck with pre-tax dollars.
Lunch is provided at nearly every noon conference (except on Thursdays during Grand Rounds). GW Hospital provides a meal subsidy for purchasing cafeteria food on evenings, weekends, or long-call days.
As an employee of The George Washington University (which is a 501c3 organization), time spent as a resident at GWU can count towards the Public Loan Forgiveness Program through Direct Loans.
Discounted annual membership for the GWU Lerner Health and Wellness Center can be paid through payroll deduction. We also have a free residency running club every Monday at 6:30 pm.
Two personalized white coats are provided to each intern. One coat is provided to each resident each subsequent year. Free dry cleaning of white coats is provided.

Residents have access to a 403(b) account, with a university matching program after two years' employment.
Residents are eligible for a discounted daycare program.
