Ophthalmologist, The Eye Center
Dr. Katzen has been in private medical practice in Alexandria, Va. since 1976, specializing in ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery. Currently, he is an ophthalmologist at The Eye Center, a practice that has been at the forefront of vision correction practices for many years. He also has hospital staff privileges at Inova Alexandria Hospital. In addition to medical practice, Dr. Katzen is involved in commercial real estate development, property management and leasing, and is an officer of Culmore Realty Company, bringing a sound business background to the Board of the Katzen Cancer Research Center.
Renowned for his work, Dr. Katzen was voted “Best Eye Doctor in Alexandria” by Alexandria Times newspaper in 2007 and 2008. He is a member of numerous organizations including the Alexandria and Fairfax Medical Societies, Northern Virginia Academy of Ophthamology, and Research to Prevent Blindness Society, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
An alumnus of GW, Dr. Katzen earned his medical degree from the School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 1972, and also completed research in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology. He completed an internship in Mixed Medicine at the Washington Hospital Center and a residency in Ophthalmology at University Hospital in Baltimore, where he served as chief resident his final year.
