The Laboratory for Hypertension Research is a member of the Division of Kidney Diseases and Hypertension within the Department of Medicine at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C.

Hypertension is present in about 40 percent of the world’s population and is responsible for 12.8 percent of total deaths. In the United States, hypertension affects 32 percent of the middle-age adult population and is responsible for 35.6 percent of total deaths. Our research focuses on studying the pathogenesis and treatment of hypertension, such as the roles of genetics and epigenetics in humans, rats, and mice using molecular and cell biological methods, including gene silencing, gene rescue, biophysical imaging, and integrated physiology.
