Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving

Dear SMHS/MFA Colleagues,

Later this week, many of us will travel near and far to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends and loved ones. In the spirit of the holiday, I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to each of you for your constant commitment to improving lives through education, research, patient care, and advocacy.

I am thankful to be part of a community whose very mission is “dedicated to improving the health of our local, national, and global communities.” We all live that mission each day by advancing medicine with new discoveries; building a healthier future by educating the next generation of scientific, medical, and health sciences leaders; working tirelessly to advance the highest-quality, patient-centered care; and building a culture of excellence throughout the school through collaborative engagement, accountable leadership, and commitment to innovation.

I am proud to be the Dean and CEO of this important academic medical enterprise and I am thankful for the staff, faculty, researchers, students, and trainees who make it such a wonderful place to work and learn.

My warmest wishes for a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday,

Barbara Lee Bass, MD, FACS
