GWish to Pilot Reflection Mentor Project For Residents and Third-Year Medical Students

February 8, 2011

GWish has received a two-year grant to pilot a Reflection Mentor Program in the GW Internal Medicine Residency Program from the F.I.S.H. Foundation. The program introduces the reflection process as an essential component of professionalism. The goal of the Reflection Mentor Program is to train second-year residents and third-year residents as reflection mentors. Reflection mentors are defined as physicians or others trained to help guide medical student's personal and spiritual journey during their training. The focus will be on students' inner life, which may encompass a theological, personal, and/or secular focus. This fall residents at GW interested in volunteering for the program will participate in a training program. Small reflection groups for interested third-year medical students at GW will begin in the spring.
