LBT Breast Cancer Care

As part of our commitment to advancing high quality care, we are developing a new education program for LBT individuals. We will offer public education sessions focused on:

  • Increased LBT breast cancer risks and ways to reduce your risk
  • Screening and screening resources, including free and low-cost options
  • Wellness behaviors

Sessions will be hosted by our partners the DC Center for the LGBT Community, Iona Senior Services and Covenant Baptist United Church of Christ. In partnership with the Mautner Project at Whitman-Walker Health, we will also provide education and support for LBT breast cancer patients, survivors and caregivers to increase their engagement in their health and health care.

Finally, we will educate health care professionals in the city on unique LBT health concerns for breast cancer and the importance of affirming, culturally sensitive care. Continuing education units will be offered.

If you are a LBT individual or health care professional and are interested in learning more about the program and upcoming public information sessions, please contact us at (202) 994-2449 or gwci@gwu.edu.

Funding for this project is provided by Susan G. Komen from June 2016-2018.
