Dr. Najjar laboratory has identified a role for CEACAM1 in promoting insulin clearance and suppressing hepatic fatty acid synthase activity. The lecture will focus on how lowering hepatic CEACAM1 level leads to insulin resistance and non- alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Lowering CEACAM1 levels can also lead to steatohepatitis and fibrosis; all of which constitute key features of NASH, the progressive form of NAFLD.

Lunch will be served!
