Dr. Mercader is Professor of Medicine for the Division of Cardiology at George Washington University. He is board certified in Cardiology and Electrophysiology. He is the Director of Arrhythmia Research at GW Medical Faculty Associates. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Heart Rhythm Society. His research focus involves developing new treatment strategies for the most common cardiac rhythm disorder: atrial fibrillation. He spearheaded the formation of a company that develops tools for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. He manages complex cardiac arrhythmias, implants pacemakers, defibrillators and performs cardiac ablations. Dr. Mercader has 20 years of experience in managing syncope patients and leads the national meetings at heart rhythm society on Syncope.
