Education and Training

One of the Department of Emergency Medicine’s core missions is to train the next generation of health care professionals. As such we offer a wide variety of training programs in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Management for GW undergraduates, GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences students, sponsor a four year Emergency Medicine residency, and have created a number of post‐residency fellowship programs for both US and International physicians, and support the University’s Emergency Health Services programs oriented toward prehospital provider training. Our teaching is not limited to health professionals, as we also offer a number of citizen CPR, AED, and First Aid courses through our American Heart Association‐certified training center.
