Prospective Mentors

DC HAPP is a pipeline program for Washington, DC public high school rising seniors and juniors with backgrounds underrepresented in medicine (URM) who have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a health profession.

Your leadership, role modeling, and teaching will help inspire students to pursue a healthcare profession and help build their academic path to a career in medicine.
The program runs weekdays during the month of July with training sessions and working meetings in advance of the program.
If you are interested in serving as a DC HAPP mentor, applications will be available in December. Please contact Jinny Jang, Assistant Director, SMHS Office of Diversity and Inclusion, at, with any questions.
