GW COVID-19 Testing Options
GW is offering unscheduled walk-up COVID-19 testing for adults with or without a healthcare provider order. Patients without an order will receive an evaluation from a GW healthcare provider. The walk-up testing site is located at 22nd and I St NW, operating Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Please note that drive-thru testing is not currently being offered; the last day of drive-thru testing was June 11, 2020.
For Healthcare Providers For Patients
Instructions for Patients
If your GW healthcare provider has ordered this test
Please bring a photo ID and insurance card with you and inform the registration staff that you are a GW patient whose provider has ordered a COVID-19 test.
If your non-GW healthcare provider has ordered this test
Please bring a photo ID, insurance card, and copy of the provider’s order for the COVID-19 test. The order will need to include your provider’s LabCorp account number to help make sure that the results are sent back to your provider.
If you do not have an order, but want to be tested
Please bring your photo ID and insurance card with you. You can expect to be evaluated by a qualified GW healthcare provider who may order the COVID-19 test for you. Note that the evaluation by a GW healthcare provider is required in order to receive an order for testing and that this is a billable visit.
Test Results

Results are currently taking approximately 5 days for most patients, though result times vary based on laboratory capacity.

Results from testing will be sent to the healthcare provider who ordered the tests. Patients should wait to be contacted with results or contact the healthcare provider who ordered the test if they are seeking results.
How to Find Us
The entrance to our building is located on the corner of 22nd Street and I (eye) Street, NW. If you’re traveling by Metrorail, walk one block east of the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro Station. (Orange, Blue and Silver lines).
The entrance to the parking garage underneath the building is on the corner of 22nd and I (Eye) Street. Additional garage parking is available on 22nd Street midway between I Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

Order the COVID-19 test in Allscripts (test code 139900)

Direct the patient to come for specimen collection, available Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM at 22nd and I Street, NW. Please remind patients to bring their photo ID and insurance card.

Order the COVID-19 test through LabCorp (test code 139900) and provide the patient with a copy of the test. Please ensure your LabCorp account number appears on the printed order (if not, please be sure to write it on the order)

Direct the patient to come to GW for specimen collection, available Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM at 22nd and I Street, NW

Test results will come back to you. Please promptly communicate the results to your patient once you have received them.
