Publications

The Publications Division of the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) Office of Communications and Marketing publishes Medicine + Health, the school’s flagship publication. This award-winning, biannual magazine showcases the research and clinical expertise of the SMHS faculty, who are working to overcome some of today’s most challenging and persistent health problems. The division also produces a pair of biannual magazines featuring the collaborative efforts of SMHS and its clinical partners, the GW Hospital and the GW Medical Faculty Associates. Neurotransmitter is an award-winning biannual publication highlighting neurology, neuroscience, and neurosurgery interests, and a new biannual magazine for the GW Cancer Center — re: — focuses on GW’s drive to support innovative research, personalized patient care, and cancer policy in the nation’s capital. The division also publishes the annual SMHS Progress Report, as well the Beaumont Medical Honors Society’s student research journal Fusion; the Cancer Programs and Cancer Registry Annual Report; Cuentos, a literary arts journal for the Division of Internal Medicine; and a monthly, internal-audience eNewsletter.

Cancer Annual Report 2012-2013

The George Washington University’s Cancer Program and Cancer Registry Annual Report reflects the long-standing relationship between GW’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences, the George Washington University Hospital (GW Hospital), and the GW Medical Faculty Associates (MFA).

The annual report provides an overview of the cancer registry data for patients treated at GW Hospital and the MFA in previous year, detailing trends cancer care at GW in comparison to national American Cancer Society data.

The report also highlights many of the achievements of the clinical partner’s chief cancer initiatives — GW Cancer Institute and the Cyrus and Myrtle Katzen Cancer Research Center —focused on community outreach, clinical care, research, and survivorship. The report also lists contact information for GW’s many cancer patient resources.
