What are the advantages of certification from the American College of Surgeons (ACOS)?
The American College of Surgeon's Commision on Cancer is a standard-setting organization that recognizes cancer programs through an accreditation process for their commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality, and multidisciplinary patient-centered care. Standards guide quality provision for prevention and screening, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and end of life care. Accredited programs submit cancer registry data to the National Cancer Data Base and in turn have access to reporting tools that aid benchmarking for improving outcomes. Commision on Cancer's education, training, resource development and advocacy also benefit participating cancer programs.
