Graduation Requirements

To successfully graduate from the program students should meet the requirements below on time:

  • All graduate programs require that students maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or above in all enrolled courses.
  • If you are NOT doing a thesis, please inform Dr. Dimri accordingly before April 15.

If you are following the thesis option,

  • You must have completed writing the thesis dissertation.

  • You must have the thesis dissertation approved by your Thesis Advisor AND a Reader (note that if you are completing your thesis under the supervision of a BMM faculty, the Reader can be from the faculty of another department; if you are completing your thesis under the supervision of a faculty member who is not a member of the BMM department, the Reader has to be a BMM faculty member). Do NOT submit your thesis dissertation to the Reader until your Thesis Advisor has approved your thesis!! Note the CCAS policy here. Visit Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) for further details about theses and dissertations, including deadlines, checklists, forms, and other resources.

  • ETD approval form - Download the pdf from here.

  • Both a soft copy and a hard copy of your Thesis must be submitted to Dr. Dimri. The hard copy of your Thesis must be bound in a Black, Springback binder. An example of an approved binder is here and on Amazon.

  • You must submit the electronic version of your thesis to the following website: https://library.gwu.edu/etd

  • Thesis submission deadlines are typically in May (for Spring graduation), August (for Summer graduation), and December (for Fall graduation). Actual submission dates may vary. Updated information can be found on the ETD submission dates page

  • For the final graduation requirement, you will be asked to complete the anonymous exit interview survey (Survey Monkey) or meet with the department's student coordinator for the in-person exit interview.
